This algorithm that works here can be explained as 3 steps:
- split face and background
- creates cartoon face and cartoonized background based on 2 separated CNN’s which trained for face and for background cartoonization separately
- merge them back saving natural view
As a result you got cartoon videos which save face mimics, objects on the scene, gestures and motions as in the original video but you see everything in cartoon style, cartoon faces, cartoon bodies and background
To speed up processing we use a GPU server and run cartoonization in a few threads to process a few frames simultaneously
